Everything you need to know about managing your domains, DNS, SSL, and more with LinkYourName — the sovereign domain management platform.
Getting Started
Start HereLinkYourName lets you connect any domain name to our managed DNS infrastructure — giving you instant SSL, a full DNS control panel, one-click service templates, and Google Search Console integration, all from one dashboard.
Create an account
Sign up at linkyourname.com. You get a 30-day free trial with full access — no credit card required.
Add your domain
In your dashboard, go to Domains → Add Domain. Enter your domain name (e.g. yourdomain.com). A DNS zone is created for it automatically.
Update your nameservers
Log in to your domain registrar (where you bought the domain — GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, etc.) and change the nameservers to our servers.
Wait for propagation
DNS changes can take between a few minutes and 48 hours to propagate worldwide. Usually it is much faster — often under 30 minutes.
SSL is auto-provisioned
Once your nameservers point to us, your SSL certificate is issued automatically within 30 seconds. No configuration needed.
Our Nameservers
Set all four nameservers at your registrar:
Domain Management
The Domains section is your control centre. Each domain you add gets its own DNS zone, SSL certificate, security monitoring, and management panel.
Add a Domain
Use the Add Domain form at the top of the Domains page. Your DNS zone is provisioned instantly.
Verify Status
Click Check NS on any domain row to verify that your nameservers are correctly pointing to our infrastructure.
Domain Detail Page
Click Manage → on any domain to access its full settings: DNS records, redirects, team access, uptime, audit log, and more.
Projects
Organise domains into Projects for easier management. Assign any domain to a project directly from the domain row.
Delete a Domain
Use the trash icon on a domain row to delete it. This removes the DNS zone and all associated settings. This action is permanent.
Domain Security Page
Access the security sub-page from the domain detail view for security metrics, breach alerts, and DNSSEC status.
Before deleting a domain
DNS Records
Full DNS management is available for every domain. You can add, edit, and delete DNS records directly from the dashboard.
| Record Type | What It Does | Common Use |
|---|---|---|
| A | Maps domain to an IPv4 address | Point domain to your server |
| AAAA | Maps domain to an IPv6 address | Point domain to your IPv6 server |
| CNAME | Alias one name to another | www → yourdomain.com |
| MX | Directs email delivery | Set up email for your domain |
| TXT | Stores text information | SPF, DKIM, site verification |
| NS | Defines authoritative nameservers | Delegate sub-zones |
| SRV | Specifies services on specific ports | VoIP, messaging protocols |
| CAA | Controls which CAs can issue SSL certs | Restrict certificate issuance |
Adding a record
Open the DNS manager from a domain row (click DNS) or from the domain detail page. Choose the record type, enter the name (leave blank or use @ for the root), enter the value, and save.
TTL
TTL (Time To Live) controls how long DNS resolvers cache the record. Lower TTL = faster propagation when you change it. Default is 3600 seconds (1 hour).
Propagation
DNS changes usually propagate within 5–10 minutes globally when using our nameservers. External TTLs from previous providers may delay visibility.
DNS Templates
One-Click SetupDNS Templates let you configure your domain for popular services with a single click. No copy-pasting long record values — we do it automatically.
Email Providers
Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho Mail, ProtonMail, Fastmail — complete MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records in one click.
Website Hosting
Vercel, Netlify, GitHub Pages, Shopify, Squarespace, Wix — correct CNAME and A records applied instantly.
CDN & Performance
Cloudflare, BunnyCDN templates for routing traffic through content delivery networks.
Business Services
Google Analytics, Zendesk, HubSpot, Intercom — quick DNS verification for popular SaaS platforms.
Custom Templates
Templates are applied non-destructively — they add the required records without deleting existing ones.
Preview Before Apply
Each template shows you exactly which records will be created before you confirm. No surprises.
Tip
SSL & Proxy
Every domain on LinkYourName gets automatic SSL via our proxy infrastructure. Certificates are issued and renewed automatically — you never need to manage them.
Automatic SSL
SSL certificates are provisioned within 30 seconds of nameserver propagation. They renew automatically before expiry.
SSL Proxy On
When enabled, your domain's traffic is encrypted end-to-end and forwarded to your server. Use Detect IP to point it to your origin server.
SSL Proxy Off / Holding Page
When the proxy is off, visitors see a branded holding page showing your domain is registered and secured with LinkYourName.
Detect IP
Auto-detects the origin server for your domain from DNS records and configures the proxy target. Click the Detect IP button in your domain row.
HTTPS Redirect
All HTTP traffic is automatically redirected to HTTPS. This is enforced at the infrastructure level.
On-Demand SSL
Custom domains connected to your LinkYourName profile (like custom-domain.com/you) also receive on-demand SSL automatically.

Google Search Console
GSC IntegrationLinkYourName integrates directly with Google Search Console so you can verify your domains and monitor your search performance without leaving the dashboard.
Connect your Google account
Go to Dashboard → Domains, then click Manage on the domain you want to verify. Scroll down to the Google Search Console section and click Connect Google Account. Authorise LinkYourName in the Google OAuth screen that appears.
Return to the domain page
After authorising, you are redirected back to your domain detail page. The GSC section will now show your connected Google account and the verification status of the domain.
Verify your domain
Click Verify Domain in the GSC section. LinkYourName will automatically add the required TXT verification record to your DNS and trigger verification with Google. This typically completes within 1–2 minutes.
View search performance
Once verified, access search analytics for each domain from your dashboard. See impressions, clicks, average position, and top queries.
How verification works
URL Shortener
LinkYourName includes a built-in URL shortener. Create short, trackable links for sharing, campaigns, or personal use.
Create Short Links
From Dashboard → Shortener, paste any long URL and get a short link instantly.
Custom Slugs
Choose your own slug (the part after the slash) for memorable links.
Link Expiry
Set an expiry date on any link. After the date, the link shows an expired page instead of redirecting.
Password Protection
Protect any short link with a password. Only visitors who enter the password will be redirected.
Click Tracking
See how many times each short link has been clicked, with timestamps and referrer data.
Link States
Links can be Active, Expired, Locked (password-protected), or Terminated (manually disabled).
Uptime Monitoring
Monitor your domains and their associated services 24/7. Get alerted when something goes down.
Automatic Checks
Each monitored domain is checked at regular intervals. Status history is stored and displayed on the domain detail page.
Uptime History
View uptime graphs showing the health of your domain over the last 7, 30, and 90 days.
Status Indicators
See at a glance if a domain is Up, Degraded, or Down — all from the domain detail page.
Alerts
Security alerts are generated when downtime, DNS changes, or suspicious activity is detected on your domains.
Teams & Collaboration
Share access to individual domains with team members. Each domain can have its own set of collaborators.
Domain-Level Access
Add collaborators to specific domains — not your whole account. Control who can manage each domain independently.
Invite by Username
Add team members using their LinkYourName username. They must have a LinkYourName account.
Manage Access
Remove collaborators at any time from the Teams section inside a domain detail page.
Audit Log
Every change made to a domain — by you or a collaborator — is recorded in the Audit Timeline. See who changed what and when.
Security Features
LinkYourName includes multiple layers of security to protect your domains from unauthorised changes and threats.
Domain Lock
Lock any domain to prevent accidental or unauthorised DNS changes. Unlock it only when you intentionally need to make changes.
Brand Shield
Monitors for lookalike domains that may be impersonating your brand. Alerts you when suspicious similar domains are detected.
Security Metrics
Each domain has a security dashboard showing SPF, DKIM, DMARC status, SSL grade, DNSSEC status, and overall health score.
Audit Timeline
A full, tamper-evident audit log of every action taken on your domain, including who made the change and when.
Security Scans
Automated scans run regularly to check DNS record integrity and alert you to changes you did not make.
HTTPS Everywhere
All traffic to your domains is forced over HTTPS. Our infrastructure enforces this at the network level.
Profile & Username
Your LinkYourName username gives you a personal public profile at lyn.my/yourusername.
Public Profile URL
Your profile is accessible at lyn.my/yourusername. Share this as your personal link page.
Display Name & Bio
Set a display name and short bio from Dashboard → Profile Settings.
Username
Your username can be changed once. Choose carefully — some usernames are premium and may be reserved.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I connect my domain to LinkYourName?▼
Add your domain in the dashboard, then go to your domain registrar and change your nameservers to ns1.dnserver.cloud, ns2.dnserver.cloud, ns3.dnserver.cloud, and ns4.dnserver.cloud. SSL is provisioned automatically once nameservers propagate.
How long does DNS propagation take?▼
Usually 5–30 minutes when using our nameservers. In rare cases it can take up to 48 hours depending on your registrar and global DNS caches.
Do I need a credit card to sign up?▼
No. You get a full 30-day free trial with no credit card required. You only need to add a payment method to continue after the trial.
What if my domain is pointing to a Vercel / Netlify site?▼
Use our DNS Templates. Select the Vercel or Netlify template for your domain, and we will automatically add the correct CNAME and A records so your domain works with those platforms.
Can I use LinkYourName for email hosting?▼
LinkYourName does not host email directly, but we make it easy to configure your domain for any email provider. Use the DNS Template Library (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho, ProtonMail, etc.) to set up MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records in one click.
What is the holding page?▼
When your domain is registered with us but the SSL proxy has not been configured to point to a server, visitors see a branded holding page. This confirms your domain is secure and registered. You can keep this until your site is ready.
How does Google Search Console integration work?▼
Connect your Google account from the domain detail page (Dashboard → Domains → Manage → Google Search Console section). Then click Verify Domain. We automatically add the DNS TXT verification record and complete the verification with Google on your behalf.
Can I share domain access with my team?▼
Yes. From any domain detail page, go to the Teams section and add collaborators by their username. You can remove access at any time.
What is Domain Lock?▼
Domain Lock prevents any DNS changes to a domain until you explicitly unlock it. It is useful for production domains where you want to prevent accidental or unauthorised changes.
How do I cancel my subscription?▼
You can manage your subscription from Dashboard → Settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
Who do I contact for support?▼
Reach out via the support options in your dashboard, or email the team. Enterprise customers have access to dedicated support.
