Policy.
Effective Date: March 1, 2026 · Last Updated: March 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how LinkYourName ("we", "us", or "our"), operated by the company behind linkyourname.com, collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our domain management and DNS services.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — your name, email address, and profile data, provided through our authentication provider (Clerk).
- Domain and DNS data — domain names you add to your account and the DNS records you configure for those domains.
- Usage data — how you interact with our dashboard, including pages visited and features used.
- URL shortener data — short links you create and anonymous click analytics for those links (no personally identifiable visitor data is stored).
- Google API data — if you connect your Google account to use our Google Search Console integration, we receive and store OAuth tokens that allow us to access Google Search Console and Google Site Verification on your behalf. We only request access to the scopes you explicitly authorise. This data is used solely to provide the GSC verification and monitoring features and is never sold or shared with third parties.
- Payment information — billing details are handled entirely by our payment processor. We do not store card numbers or sensitive payment data.
- Communications — if you contact us by email or through a support form, we retain those communications.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the LinkYourName platform and its features.
- Manage your DNS zones, provision SSL certificates, and run security monitoring for your domains.
- Authenticate your identity and maintain the security of your account.
- Connect to Google Search Console and Google Site Verification APIs on your behalf, strictly in accordance with the permissions you grant.
- Send transactional emails such as account alerts and security notifications.
- Process subscription payments and manage billing.
- Comply with legal obligations.
Our use of information received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
3. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database (Neon) with encryption at rest and in transit. We use HTTPS for all communications. Access to your data is restricted to authorised personnel only. We maintain audit logs of changes made to domain settings.
While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no system is completely secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to keep your account credentials confidential.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:
- Clerk — handles user authentication and identity management.
- Neon (PostgreSQL) — our primary database provider.
- Google APIs — used for Google Search Console integration when you choose to connect your Google account.
- Payment processor — handles subscription billing securely.
- PowerDNS — our DNS infrastructure provider, running on our own servers.
Each third party handles data according to their own privacy policies. We do not sell your data to any third party.
5. Cookies & Tracking
We use strictly necessary cookies to maintain your authentication session. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or sell data to advertising networks. URL shortener click analytics are collected anonymously (no IP addresses or personal identifiers are stored against individual clicks).
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (for example, billing records). DNS zones and records for domains you have deleted are removed immediately.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Withdraw consent for optional data processing at any time.
- Revoke Google account access at any time from your Google Account settings or by disconnecting your Google account from your LinkYourName dashboard.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.
8. Children's Privacy
LinkYourName is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top. Material changes will be communicated to you via email or a notice in the dashboard.
